Brackenridge appointed on £22m Kirkstall regeneration scheme
14 July 2026
Brackenridge is a commercial contractor and civil engineer working across West, North and South Yorkshire. We were founded in Leeds in 1984, we are still owned by the family that founded us, and we have never been part of a group.
We take on projects between £2m and £18m in workplace, industrial, education and healthcare — new build, refurbishment and fit out, with the groundworks done by our own people rather than sublet. Around 70% of our turnover is repeat business, which is the only figure in this industry we think means anything.
What we do
One contract, one price, one company carrying the risk from planning through to handover. We take the design as far as it needs to go before anyone is asked to commit to a number.
Piling, basements, drainage, retaining structures and remediation. The unglamorous half of a project, and the half that decides whether the rest of it runs to programme.
Bringing tired buildings back into use, usually while somebody is still occupying part of them. Listed fabric, asbestos, and a programme built around other people’s working days.
Cat A and Cat B, from a shell handover to a building somebody can move into on the Monday. Short programmes, exposed finishes, and no room anywhere for a mistake.
“They found 6.2 metres of uncompacted fill that our own consultant’s desk study had missed, and they found it before we signed. It cost us £1.1m we had not budgeted and it saved us a building that would have started settling in year two. I have not had a contractor tell me bad news that early before or since.”
